I remember long—I doodled mindlessly
Napkins, plates, school yard gates
Spoke impressions raised
I doodled through the dark times
I doodled in the day
Cubes, curls, with sun the swirls
Streamed across the page
Fluidly flowing flourished flair
A dense and deep engrave
Whatever spawned about my thoughts
Would transpose on a wave
My wrist would seize the words in flight
Lift. Descend. Inscribe.
And soon the sonnet of the pen
Would fly, fly, fly.

#7_Wonder of A Counselor, Pele-Yo‘etz El Gibbor; Isaiah 9:5 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; dominion will rest on his shoulders, and he will be given the name Pele-Yo‘etz [Wonder of a Counselor] … Human counselors are helpful, but all truth, wisdom, and healing comes from God. For he alone understands clearly every situation. He discerns the motives of our hearts and knows what is best for us. #5 Sketching away; after servicing at the church today in decorating for Christmas— couldn’t help but think on a Holiday minded shirt. I am printing up the Warrior tshirt design with blue and silver on black so grouping this design with the silver ink on navy, white–red? Certainly speaks to a specific group with a defined commitment to this type of creative work. I may pull out the ‘C’ and monogram on a plain with the star.
#4_The Lord Your Healer “Adonai Ref’ekha”; Exodus 15:26 reads, “He said, If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” The caduceus symbol is the traditional symbol of medicine which combines two serpents, a rod and wings of Mercury, “messenger of the gods”. In my sketch I replaced the rod with a sword illustrating,“ …word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”-Hebrews 4:12. And John 1:1, ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Sword is the Word which is God—got it? The wings are that of an eagle, mentioned 26 times in the bible. In Isaiah 40:29-31 we read that God renews the strength of the weary and powerless and uses eagle wings as a metaphor, “they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint”. The jem at the top is a ruby for the blood that was shed for our sins. I kept the snakes of the caduceus to show God’s dominion over the creatures. As believers, victory over disease and harm is our heritage through faith as read in this portion of scripture known as “The Great Commission”:
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16 :14,18
#3_God is Warrior “Ish Milchamah”; referring to the book “His Names Are Wonderful” as source, this sketch illustrates God’s name as Warrior. In the bible God’s nature is expressed in not one but many names.
I am excited to illustrate this sketch as a heavy metal Roman shield depicting the greatest soldier of all, God the Warrior! Exodus 15:3. Do you see the Name Warrior in the sketch? Please go to http://wp.me/s2xrnb-warrior if you would care to see the developed art.
